Chi Onyebuchi

Head of Strategy and Operations, Global Oncology Business Unit

A highly accomplished biopharmaceutical leader, Chi brings more than twenty years of experience leading complex drug development programs, shaping portfolio strategy, and building high-performing teams. Recognized for her strategic insight, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership style, she has a proven track record of aligning diverse stakeholders around ambitious goals, navigating organizational complexity, and delivering results that advance both scientific innovation and enterprise priorities. Since joining Takeda, Chi has held leadership roles including Global Program Lead and Head of Global Program Management within the Plasma-Derived Therapies R&D organization, as well as Global Program Management leadership within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area Unit. Across these roles, she has led cross-functional global teams, developed integrated asset and lifecycle strategies, and guided programs from early development through commercialization, consistently driving strategic clarity, operational rigor, and execution excellence.

Prior to Takeda, Chi held clinical program leadership roles at Biogen and Merck, where she led global clinical development and trial teams across multiple therapeutic areas. Earlier in her career, she worked at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, building a strong foundation in clinical research, operational execution, and patient-centered innovation.

Chi holds a PhD in Epidemiology from Walden University, an MPH from New York University, and a BA in Political Science from Binghamton University. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is based in Cambridge, MA.

Chi Onyebuchi is Head of Strategy and Operations for the Oncology Therapeutic Area Unit (OTAU) and a member of the Oncology Business Unit Leadership Team.
