Biography
Mohamed Samir, M.D. is the Chief Medical Officer for Takeda in the Oncology Business Unit spearheading the development of our expanded portfolio. Mohamed has over two decades of experience in clinical practice and pharmaceutical leadership, with a notable focus on oncology and hematological malignancies.
Prior to joining Takeda, Mohamed was the Head of Global Oncology Pipeline at AbbVie, where he was responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of global oncology pipeline-related medical affairs activities. Prior to this role, he led the Global Medical Affairs Multiple Myeloma and Oncology Evidence Generation teams.
Prior to his roles at AbbVie, Mohamed held key leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Roche, where he led oncology medical affairs across a vast geography, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey. Mohamed’s strategic oversight in these roles included the development and execution of medical strategies and leading cross-functional teams to achieve medical and regulatory milestones. He is also deeply passionate about evidence generation and the application of artificial intelligence in medical affairs and healthcare.
Mohamed earned his M.D. from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and further continued his studies to earn a master’s degree in molecular oncology as well as an MBA.
